How many times have you received phone calls which promised to put you on Google's first page? If you have a website, it is a constant battle to decide which email or call to trust and which to ignore. I probably receive more of these emails and phone calls as my clients, and being in this business long enough, I recognize the false ones. Once in a while, when I have time, I enjoy playing along. Agent: We noticed that your website is not on the first page on Google. We can help you to be on Google's first page. Me: Great, that's what I need! Could you tell me how you will do it? Agent: We will do our secrets on your website to make it to the first page. Me: Great, but could you give me a little bit more details? Do you need access to my website? Will you change the images and the content? Agent: No, we don't need access to your website, you just pay a fee, and we will put you on Google's first page. Me; Interesting, so you don't need access to the website, but you will rank me. How will you do it? Agent: Easy. We own Google, so we can put you on the first page, and it is that simple. Me: Do you own Google? Hmmm Agent: Yes, that is correct. And for some reason, this conversation did not continue too long :-)

Where do you spend your marketing time and energy? How do visitors find your website? Social media, Google, newsletter, referrals....?
